Wadi Rum, Jordan - April 2006 : Beautiful desert scenery and amazing rock formations in southern Jordan; famous in the West as the area through which Lawrence of Arabia traveled with the Arab army to attack the port city of Aqaba during World War I.

My first photos with the Olympus C-7070, a more sophisticated point-and-shoot camera

Petra : A desert city entirely carved out of the surrounding mountains. Situated at the crossroads of major trade routes and ancient capital of the Nabateans, a desert people who became increasingly wealthy from the trade of spices, silver, frankincense, and myrhh. Originally the capital of an independent Nabatean kingdom, the city eventually became part of the Roman province of Arabia. Over time, the city declined in importance and was lost to history until "rediscovered" by a Swiss explorer in 1812. Named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985.

These are some of my very first digital photos; I think I've improved over the last few years :-)
